Jørgen Dahl Moe Steps into the Spotlight with His Emotional Take on Springsteen

Who is this rising talent daring to cover a song by the Boss on The Voice Norway 2022? With his youthful appearance and backward baseball cap, Jørgen Dahl Moe may have looked younger than his 25 years during his blind audition, but he was no stranger to the stage. In 2009, at just 13, Moe won the Melodi Grand Prix Junior.

The Melodi Grand Prix Junior is a live TV competition for singers aged 8 to 15. Moe’s song, “Din Egen Vei” (Your Own Way), was featured on the competition album that topped Norway’s charts for a week. Without further delay, here is Jørgen Dahl Moe performing Bruce Springsteen’s *Dancing in the Dark* from his Voice audition.

Moe quickly had the audience clapping, and the judges were visibly impressed. As the song progressed, their reactions became more apparent. Two minutes into the performance, Matoma even shed a tear. Posted in January 2022, the video garnered 8 million views. Sandro Santos commented: “One of the best covers I’ve ever heard. Perfect English, perfect tones, perfect tempo. Bruce Springsteen should be honored.” Similar praise filled the comments section.

Manjoe Malinao remarked, “I’ve been a big fan of the Boss, but this young man brought a whole new level of beauty to the song.” Many listeners preferred Moe’s delicate and emotional rendition to Springsteen’s original “gutsy vocals set to a hard-driving backbeat.” Now, here’s Jørgen Dahl Moe’s cover of Elvis Presley’s *Always On My Mind* (written by Wayne Carson).

Moe’s cover of *Always On My Mind* was also from his time on The Voice. In Norway, Jørgen Dahl Moe quickly became a fan favorite, and he didn’t disappoint. In May 2022, he was announced as the winner of the seventh season of The Voice Norway.

Moe grew up in Andebu, near Sandefjord, about 120 kilometers south of Oslo. Sandefjord is known for its charming seaside and holiday appeal. Moe started playing guitar at age five and always enjoyed writing and singing his own songs.

He attended Sandefjord Upper Secondary School, where he joined the music, dance, and drama program, taking singing lessons with Kristin Vold Nese. Moe also played football for his local club, Andebu, and won a trick competition during the 2009 Norway Cup.

Despite his involvement in football, Moe continued performing at local events and festivals while pursuing his passion for songwriting. He independently released his debut single, *I Never Had You*, in 2018. In 2020, he followed up with an EP titled *Suicide Circus*. Here is Jørgen Dahl Moe performing *Purple Rain* on The Voice Norway 2022 finals.
